Mark and Judy
Pallett Scholarship Fund The Mark and
Judy Pallett Scholarship Fund is a not for profit endowment
established in 2001 to honor Mark and Judy Pallett, Wildwoods
first Executive Directors, who served from 1989 to 2001. The
Endowment is intended to help fulfill their dream of making a
camp experience available to deserving urban youth who could not
otherwise afford a Wildwood Experience, and to provide
on-going financial support for the Summer Learning Program.
Purpose
The purpose of the Fund is to secure, by financial or other
means, the benefits to support the Summer Learning Program and
to allow urban youth an opportunity to experience the wonders of
living and learning in the outdoors whose personal or family
resources are not adequate to cover the cost of tuition.
The Summer Learning Program
serves 550 to 600 urban youth over a five week period each
summer. The youth are recruited through the Kansas City
Missouri School District, Charter Schools and Parochial Schools
through the Greater Kansas City area.
Additional information on
how to make a contribution to the endowment can be found on the
Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website,
www.gkccf.org, using their
Donors Edge link.
What Has the Endowment accomplished thus
far?
Since 2000, 5 percent of the Mark & Judy Pallett Endowment,
managed by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, has
been released to support Wildwood’s Summer Learning Program.
Currently, 5 percent equals approximately $20,000, so the
Endowment supports 89 of the 550-600 students who attend one of
the five Summer Learning sessions each summer. |
