Summer Learning

Since 1980 Wildwood has offered children from the greater Kansas City metropolitan area an opportunity to participate in this 5-day residential program.

Using highly structured educational activities, students will participate in Summer learningactivities that promote critical thinking, group decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, personal creativity and self esteem.

The Summer Learning Program is supported by the generosity of individuals and local philanthropic foundations and businesses whose leaders are committed to providing an outdoor learning experience for urban youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in an outdoor learning program such as Wildwood.

PoolWildwood works cooperatively and partners with the Kansas City Public Schools, as well as inner city Parochial schools and community centers to make this program possible for 550 youth each summer.

Evaluations by the University of  Kansas School of Social Welfare reveal that students who participate in the Summer Learning Program demonstrate significant improvement in increased self-esteem and academic skills.   Summer Learning is an ACA Accredited Camp Program.
