What is a retreat?

A retreat is a deliberate withdrawal from the stresses and distractions of daily life designed to empower groups and/or individuals.  It gives the group or individual an opportunity to get away from the noises, pressures and hectic pace of one’s daily life.  A retreat experience offers individuals a chance to relax and recharge their batteries in a refreshing and natural environment.  It also provides a place for one to reconnect with their personal and professional goals in a non-competitive and cooperative setting.

Why schedule a retreat at Wildwood?

To relax in an environment surrounded by 150 acres of rolling hills, forest and meadows, miles away from traffic, city noises and the constant ringing of the telephone.  Wildwood is also surrounded by 1,500 acres of a Wildlife Refuge and is on the northern shores of Lake La Cygne.

In a retreat atmosphere, without the normal distractions of daily life, the inner-self can be renewed, relationships deepened, learning enhanced and group or individual goals renewed or reset in a caring environment. Groups discover that retreats are beneficial for strategic planning, staff development, continuing education and are rewarding for the individual and organization sponsoring the retreat.

What’s the value of the retreat experience?

In today’s world so many of us live life at a frantic pace, racing from meeting to meeting, driving from event to event, and completing our day by focusing on the events of our personal lives.  In the midst of our busy life, we look for opportunities of quietness and downtime, it can be challenging to find these moments.  Businesses, corporate organizations, schools, churches and families are discovering that one of the most effective methods of centering and re-focusing is scheduling time for a retreat. Wildwood has the ability to offer a retreat to meet your individual or group needs.  A Group Retreat can be designed to provide a place to learn, plan, strategize, strengthen relationships and reflect on the group’s goals.  Individual retreats provide opportunities for individuals to rest, relax, renew the inner-self and recharge the mind, body and soul. At Wildwood you are freed from the pressures and noise of the work and home environment.  Individuals become aware of the tranquility and beauty of the natural world around them.  If you or your group wants to build a stronger working relationship with co-workers, friends or family, or simply rest and meditate in the beauty of nature – there is no better place than Wildwood.   Call 913-757-4500 today to set-up a retreat experience that will refresh and renew the lives of those that are important in your organization, group or family.
