“Working at wildwood helped prepare me for teaching in a culturally diverse classroom.  It also helped me with time management.  If you're going to be a teacher, you should work at Wildwood . . . just for experience. “

"Working at Wildwood was an amazing experience.  I was able to meet new people from all walks of life and was able to learn so much about myself in the process."

Being a part of Summer Learning at Wildwood was an invaluable experience for me.  I gained a deeper appreciation of the natural world by teaching a "hands-on" lesson to group of kids who have limited exposure to science and group dynamics.  I have an entirely new understanding of ecology, even though I studied it in college, from working with excited 5th graders gathering crayfish, tadpoles and water plants to create our own mini pond ecosystem.  It is so rewarding to watch kids' faces light up when they complete an adventure challenge successfully or when they find a really neat rock.  I also learned a good deal about myself, pushing the limits on my comfort zones and my own notions of leadership.  I know I am a better listener, a better mediator and better teacher because of my experience as a summer learning counselor.

"Wildwood is a great place to learn about yourself and for me
it was a chance to learn about the lifestyle and struggles kids
from Kansas City go through.  There are not many
opportunities in life where you can truly help affect the life of
someone else, but Wildwood is definitely one of those places."

“Work was never actually 'work' at Wildwood, rather it was
something I wanted to do!  From singing camp songs to teaching
kids how to fish and of course building lasting friendships with
counselors and campers alike, my Wildwood experience was
priceless and something I will never forget! I loved this job!”

“Wildwood is a place where you get to work with kids, enjoy the outdoors and make new friends.  You learn the important things in life like spending time with children and preserving wildlife.  I loved the feeling of making a difference in a child's life while having fun at the same time.  Wildwood is a place for everyone to enjoy.”
